Welcome to Black History Month. To celebrate this year, Call To Action invites you to follow two anti-racist programs this month.

Despite global uprisings against police brutality and systemic racism, many U.S. bishops and cardinals have not spoken publicly about these issues, while others have yet to turn talk into action, according to the Catholic social justice organization Call To Action.

With your leadership, may the Angelus come to exemplify a media platform for balanced reporting of contemporary issues and voices by authors and media sources with foundational journalistic credentials.

For the past few months Call To Action’s Lobbying Team has been working on an initiative to build relationships in the work for racial justice, increasing accountability and transparency in the relationship between bishops and the laity.

Using your leadership position at Relevant Radio, may you encourage their programming to portray the Catholic Church as a voice for unity, with sincere, open dialogue and action on critical issues in our nation and world.

Using the themes of Advent (faith, hope, joy, and love), Re/Generation participants and leaders reflect on aspects of how colonization in the United States has been intertwined with Christianity, and the Catholic Church in particular.

All of these projects are in their early stages, and we need you to help bring them to fruition. Wherever you are in the country, there are ways for you to support Black, Indigenous, and anti-racist Catholic organizing.

"I want to tell you I think CTA is a gem in the Catholic Church," Brittenum said. "We're addressing racism — not as best we can — but we're working on it. That's all you're ever going to be able to say you're doing."

We are living through a radical reclamation of the story of the United States, and I believe that Call To Action must play a role.
