Black History Month 2021

Welcome to Black History Month. To celebrate this year, Call To Action invites you to follow two anti-racist programs this month:

First, we bring you another edition of Lenten reflections from our Anti-Racism Team. Look here on our website for examples of past years' reflections.

Second, we will begin sharing Anti-Racism Reading Reviews. This new project brings you reviews and reflections on two kinds of anti-racist books:

  1. Popular titles for anti-racist reading. These are books we often see and hear about from mainstream media. The reviews will take a closer look at celebrated titles like White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, Caste by Isabel Wilkerson, and How To Be An Anti-Racist by Ibram X. Kendi.

  2. Recommended titles from our team of anti-racist readers for anti-racist practice. These will include classics like The Autobiography of Malcolm X and modern titles like From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor.

The reviews will be a mix of our own writing and reviews by others which reflect our thoughts and commitments. The Anti-Racism Reading Reviews are an open-ended project, with no set timeline. But you'll be able to read and follow all the reviews on our website under "Anti-racism."

Finally, for Black History Month this year we ask you to follow the modern black liberation thinkers: not only people who comment on the Black Lives Matter Movement but the black people who are in the movement, who were made by it.

P.S. We are also sharpening our commitment to anti-racism by offering a Re/Generation cohort specifically for young adults of color in 2021. Applications are due February 19.
