Catholic Coalition supports Theologian criticized by Rome

The Vatican’s legalistic parsing of Sister Margaret Farley’s work will only enhance her well-deserved reputation as a gifted scholar. Rome’s attempt to steer Catholics away from Just Love will serve instead as a recommendation for all those who seek a sexual ethic rooted in justice and mutuality, rather than in platitudes and abstractions. The positions Sr. Margaret articulates resonates with many Catholics, who seek to live out the values of our faith in the context of real life.

Open Letter to Church Workers

We send you greetings today as the church commemorates St. Joseph, Patron Saint of Workers. On this day celebrating workers, we thank you for your ministries to the people of God. With more than 30,000 lay ministers in the U.S. church today and countless others in Catholic-affiliated ministries, you are an integral part of the leadership and sustainability of our communities. You also suffer some of the deepest injustices among workers in North America.

Your voice loud and clear!

Thanks to you, the word about church worker justice is spreading! In less than two days, you helped share the petition for workers at Catholic-affiliated institutions and we more than tripled our goal of 500 signatures! We faxed all 33 pages of the petition to the Bishops. On behalf of workers, Call To Action thanks you!

Church Worker Justice Week: March 12-19

In the last few weeks, we have seen one attack after another against those who help our churches and mission but are denied a voice on decisions that affect them: church workers. March 12th, marks the third anniversary of Bishop Morlino's firing of Ruth Kolpack--a dedicated church worker who spent 26 years of her life serving her local parish in the Diocese of Madison, only to be fired because she would not recant her master's thesis on inclusive language.

Archbishop Jose Gomez has announced that he opposes the inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in the social studies curricula of California's public schools. After secret investigation, Vatican attempts to silence Australian Bishop

Just three weeks after the Vatican pressured the Maryknoll religious order to remove Fr. Roy Bourgeois, it has been revealed that the Vatican has been involved in removing another member of the clergy over his views on women's ordination.
