A weekend conference examining Catholic vocation was held March 29-30 at Union Theological Seminary, a bastion of liberal Protestantism in upper Manhattan.

Now in its second year, Re/Generation (formerly titled the 20/30 Project for Mentoring and Leadership) is a national cohort of Catholic visionaries and change-makers, lovingly called “Re/Generators.”

After spending a weekend with our Young Leaders, I couldn’t help but be moved from a place of fear and inaction to hope and commitment.

Young Adults are not the “future” of the church-- we are the living, breathing church here and now! Call To Action’s viability now and into the future is contingent on our ability to engage with these young activists.

The 20/30 Project for Mentoring and Leadership (now called Re/Generation) aims to cultivate young leaders who live in the paradoxes of Catholic identity. This new program brings together young visionaries and change-makers across the country to support and inspire one another as part of a cohort, each discerning and initiating a project that puts faith into action for social justice.

The 20/30 Project will mentor, empower and educate a diverse cohort of young adult Catholic leaders throughout 2018.

Call To Action young adults Joe Kruse of Minnesota and Sophie Vodvarka will participate in a cultural exchange of young adult activists and Catholic Theologians between Asia and the US.

Last November I was contacted by young adults in the San Francisco Bay Area who were seeking to create a place for progressive young adult Catholics to come together to pray and socialize.

The 20/30 young adult community is selling t-shirts for those interested in wearing progressive Catholic shirts to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia or the Call To Action Conference in Milwaukee this fall (and hopefully to other events, too!).

Earlier this week, newspapers reported that a teacher in Des Moines had been denied a job after the diocese found out from his Facebook profile that he's gay.

In the walk organized by 8th Day Center for Justice in Chicago, CTA young adults wrote and read the prayer at station 5. They remembered the LGBT people who face mob violence and exile and who feel they walk alone.

This week, Ellen Euclide, CTA's Director of Programs, spent the afternoon with college students who were on a week-long service trip to Chicago.
