Working Groups

Our intergenerational, member-led working groups have become essential to CTA's mission and commitment to building communities for church reform, justice, and alternative worship. Working groups facilitate ongoing attention to various issues and strategies and develop programming and events for CTA membership. Each working group meets via Zoom and provides opportunities to connect with CTA members across North America and abroad.

Liberated Liturgies Working Group

The Liberated Liturgies Working Group grew out of CTA’s 2020 National Campaign. Members focus on creating inclusive worshiping communities outside the parish context — and educating Catholics about such communities. Projects have included virtual liturgies and CTA’s Alternative liturgies calendar. This working group meets monthly. Immigration Working Group

The Rio Grande Valley chapter hosted “Life At the Margins: A Border Experience” in fall 2019. Fifty members from around the country spent a weekend on the Mexico/U.S. border learning about the daily struggles against white supremacist immigration policies, border militarization, and US nationalism. This led to the creation of the Immigration Working Group. Members meet to learn about current immigration issues and how they can take action for justice.

The Immigration Working Group meets on an as-need-to basis.

Anti-Racism Working Group

In 2004, CTA’s board commissioned the Anti-Racism Team to provide accountability for CTA’s ongoing commitment to anti-racist values. The Anti-Racism Team seeks to make Call To Action an anti-racist institution and spread that effort to address racism in the Church and society. The Anti-Racism Team reviews CTA’s current projects and programs and helps develop new programs, such as trainings and discussion series. ART members are found at every level of the organization, from the Vision Council to regional volunteers.

The Anti-Racism team meets the 1st Wednesday of the month

5 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. CT / 2 p.m. PT
