Chicago exhibit and discussion explores race and us

Tonight members and friends of CTA Chicago are visiting a special exhibit at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and following their visit with a discussion facilitated by staff of the YWCA, one of the exhibit sponsors. The exhibit, called "Race: Are we so different?" was developed by the American Anthropological Association in collaboration with the Science Museum of Minnesota and "is the first national exhibition to tell the stories of race from the biological, cultural, and historical points of view. Combining these perspectives offers an unprecedented look at race and racism in the United States" according to the exhibit's website.

After visiting the museum, the group will head to a restaurant down the street to talk about their experience of race and racism. Bob, who helped organize the trip, said this is a chance to discuss "Ferguson, Staten Island and us, and what we can do to understand racism." The conversation will be facilitated by Eileen, the racial justice program director with the North Shore YWCA. For full details, check out the Facebook event or our events calendar.
