Come Break Bread

Summertime is a great time for a family reunion. The warmer weather, longer days, and a little more room in the family calendar, can offer the unique opportunity to gather. I always enjoy family reunions because I not only connect with those I know well but I get a chance to catch up with an aunt or uncle that I haven’t seen for a while. There is even an opportunity to meet a second cousin or be introduced to a freshly committed life-partner. Food is shared, stories exchanged and when I leave, I am acutely aware I am a part of something bigger than myself, something wonderful.

On Sunday, August 30, from 4-6 p.m., the West Suburban chapter of Call To Action is hosting an indoor picnic/pot luck at the Tau Center on the Wheaten Franciscan campus (26W171 Roosevelt Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187). The event is aptly named, Come Break Bread. It is a family reunion of sorts - people tied together not by genetics but by a common heart, an open mind and inclusive nature. This will be a great time to meet new people as well as get reacquainted with those you might not have seen for a while and embrace dear friends.

The time will begin with breaking open the Word and breaking bread in a paraliturgy. Sr. Rosemarie Burian, a Wheaton Franciscan, will lead the prayer and offer explanation. This will be followed by a potluck.

If your last name begins A-L, please bring an appetizer. If your last name begins M-Z, please bring a dessert. Rest assured, after sharing stories of faith and breaking bread, you will leave knowing you belong to an amazing CTA community. All are welcome into this family.  If you are able to come and break bread, an RSVP is requested: ws-cta@comcast.net
