A Joy and a Privilege
I recently had an opportunity to talk with Kathy Redig, a Roman Catholic female priest who lives and ministers in Winona, Minnesota.
A Weekend with Dignity
This year I spent a long Fourth of July weekend in the beautiful city of Seattle. I was in Seattle to represent CTA at the bi-annual Dignity USA Convention.
Questioning
Marriage is far from simple or easy, and as an institution, there are some serious issues. But it is also a beautiful way to express love and profess a lifelong commitment. The Moral Crisis of the Fourth of July (A White Reflection and Call to Action)
“To be white is to exist in a state of profound moral crisis.”
A Fortnight for What?
As a Catholic I am offended by the choice to center this fortnight when “our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power.” I do not see how the suffering and death of martyrs compares to the political issues for the Catholic Church in the United States.
Of Sisters and Superheroes
Religious women’s ability to continuously adapt to monumental change, respond to challenges with courage and equanimity, and model a spirituality of shared, collaborative leadership make women’s religious communities a valuable, powerful witness of Christian common life.
Brother Cicada
Brother Cicada taught to me to shed: shed my old perspectives, be open to newer understandings, unfamiliar concepts, and growth.
Every Life Matters
We are also responsible to stand up for and with our neighbors and not let injustices slip by without a word being uttered from our lips. Even in our churches there is subtle and not-so-subtle discrimination that must be addressed. The house of God ought to be a place where people do not experience racism and exclusion.
