Thank you David Saavedra!

From Jan. 1-April 1, David Saavedra served as the transitional Executive Director for Call To Action. After first meeting David in January over the phone, we talked regularly as I began familiarizing myself with the CTA community. I was immediately impressed with David’s striking hope and open-hearted vision for CTA.

David exudes a kind of faithful energy that reminds me of Paul’s description in 2 Corinthians of the early church community who remember that “we walk by faith, not by sight–we are of good courage.”  He was at my side for every moment of my first week on the job, sharing inspiration in his humble way, voicing his belief that CTA’s work is as important as it is unfinished.

I’m trying to keep the same faith and good courage as I work alongside the Vision Council and our various teams to begin proposing new ideas for CTA’s programming. David wholeheartedly affirmed my belief that a truly reformed church will be socially just, fully embracing the anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens to create the inclusive community Jesus sought to create among his first followers. It is now my job is to take this inspiration and imagine as thoroughly as possible how CTA can push for transformation to become that church.

David will remain with CTA in his previous role as member of both the Vision Council and Anti-Racism Team. On behalf of the CTA staff, I pray in gratitude for David’s stewardship, vision, and friendship. I look forward to our ongoing work together.
