CTA Responds to Benedict XVI’s Letter

Call To Action responds to the recent letter by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI regarding the clergy sexual abuse crisis:

The sex abuse crisis was not caused by the sexual revolution of the 60’s or the reforms of Vatican II– in fact, it began long before either event. This crisis was caused by an abusive power structure that valued– and still values– the reputation of priests and bishops over the safety of children and vulnerable adults. If the Vatican really wants to make the Church safer, Benedict XVI ‘s letter is a great example of what not to do.

Call To Action members are committed to acting in solidarity with survivors of clergy sexual abuse. We pray for an end to clericalism in our Church and will continue to work for a more equitable and just Church.
