A Queer Catholic love story to follow this Advent

Are you ready for a light-hearted Christmas story that celebrates queer love? This Advent, you’re invited to grab family and friends, gather ‘round the wreath, and listen to Sacred Hearts on your preferred podcast player. Sacred Hearts is a Queer Catholic love story in four parts. Marcy Martinez is a 12th-grade volleyball player at an all-girls Catholic high school who plans to take her girlfriend Janelle to the Christmas dance — and faces backlash. Will she find support from family and friends? How will she reconcile her truth with her faith?

Sacred Hearts is a podcast for queer Catholics and their allies. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Catholics exist across various cultures and regions. Our faith is important to us. Our stories need to be shared. Sacred Hearts began as a novella for my former self; a young Catholic girl who struggled with the imposition that I had to give up my religion because of my sexuality. This is a story especially for queer and Catholic youth who need extra affirmation during the holiday season. This is a story that declares that our lives and the way we love are not sins; we, too, are equally blessed.

This podcast is an opportunity to start new conversations about what it means as Catholics to be universal allies. Let this be the Christmas where every teenager — regardless of their sexual orientation, their gender identity, or their questioning — will feel safe, loved, and at home in their Catholic community.  Episodes will drop each Sunday of Advent.
