Firing of Unionized Parish Workers in Brownsville Diocese, Texas

TAKE ACTION

1. Please write a letter to Bishop Gregory, the President of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops:

Ask him to mediate this issue with Bishop Pena and reinstate all of the workers to their former positions, that the new priest not change any of the church ministries nor the staff, and that he recognize the Union contract as a legally binding contract. And that further Bishop Pena follow the mandate of the Catholic church in recognizing the rights of workers to organize and form unions and allow any parish employee to join the union without fearing
for his job.

Bishop Gregory is at: info@diobelle.org phone: 618 277 8181; fax: 618
277 0387.

2. A copy of this letter should be sent to the Pope's representative in Washington DC: Most Rev. Gabriel Montalvo, 3339 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008-3687 phone: 202 333 7121; fax: 202 337 4036

3. The United Farmworkers Union has 6 lawyers and numerous students and paralegals working on the temporary restraining order, the hearings and the trial. This is a precedent setting case.
