We Are Church plans Rome "Incontro" in October
An international "Incontro of the People of God" will be held in Rome October 11-12 by the International Movement WE ARE CHURCH.

On the 35th anniversary of the opening of Vatican II, most of the 20+ countries that have collected signatures on various versions of the five-point We Are Church Referendum will send delegates on a pilgrimage to deliver a common church reform message to the Vatican, celebrate their solidarity in a Vatican II vision of Church, share Eucharist, and hold an assembly. Delegations are coming from Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium (both Wallonia and Flanders), Netherlands, France, Great Britain, Spain (also Catalonia), Portugal, Canada and the U.S. There are tentative plans for parties from New Zealand, Colombia, Brazil and South Africa.

We Are Church efforts are underway as far away as India and South Africa. New Zealand, Venezuela and Brazil have just begun signature collections this summer.

U.S. coordinator of the We Are Church Coalition, Loretto Sr. Maureen Fiedler of Catholics Speak Out, will be part of a U.S. delegation of 15-20 people including Andrea Johnson, national coordinator of Women's Ordination Conference. CSO and WOC have worked together in the leadership and staffing of the coalition since early 1996.

Signatures and contributions are still being received at We Are Church Coalition, P.O. Box 2548, Fairfax VA 22031. 703 352-1766. E-mail: WOC96@aol.com
