Did you send a Valentine to GAP Inc? Scores of CTAers received this suggestion via email in the week prior to Feb. 14. The idea was to cut out paper hearts, have them signed by kids, and send them to the head of GAP, reminding him to pay his workers a living wage.

This is just one of the actions that have been suggested to subscribers to CTA's two Action Alert lists. These email lists enable CTAers to respond rapidly to timely issues.

CTA-Justworld deals with issues of peace and justice: stopping the violence in East Timor, closing the School of the Americas, calling for the cancellation of the debt of poor countries. The most recent Alert on March 9 concerned stopping military aid to Colombia (story, left).

CTA-Community takes on issues of church reform. Examples are support for Sr. Jeannine Gramick and Fr. Bob Nugent, celebrating the feast of Mary of Magdala, and joining in prayer for Catholic women's ordination.

If you want to join these activists, you can sign up on the CTA Website (click on the graphic "Join the Chat!" on the left of our home page ) or join by email.
