Barack Obama commends CTA racism work

EDITOR’S NOTE: In December 2006 and January 2007, when the CTA Anti-Racism Team, board and staff were in the early stages of planning the 2007 conference, “From Racism to Reconciliation: Church Beyond Power and Privilege,” Barack Obama was high on the list of desirable speakers. We invited him to speak, even though experience has taught us that political candidates and their campaigns are unlikely to make long-range speaking commitments. Sen. Obama’s office thanked us for the invitation, but made no commitments. At conference time, we received this letter from Sen. Obama.
