Actions, resources

Coming next month Your October publication from CTA will be the acclaimed Election Chart from NETWORK in Washington. The 33” x 21” chart gives in-depth, factual, non-partisan information about candidates Bush and Chaney, Gore and Lieberman, compares their positions on a whole range of key issues, such as minimum wage, health care, affordable housing, and debt forgiveness, and analyzes the same issues from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching. It’s a long tradition: NETWORK and Church Women United produce the chart in every presidential election year, and CTA transmits a copy to every CTA member in October.

For additional copies, contact NETWORK's Ann Dunn: 202 547-5556, ext. 10, or adunn@networklobby.org

NETWORK staff will also present a daylong seminar Friday, Nov. 3 at CTA Conference: “After the Election, Then What?” — and Saturday workshops in the same vein.

N.Y. Times signature ad Catholics Speak Out at the Quixote Center has prepared “An Open Letter to Candidates from Roman Catholic Voters,” which will appear in the N.Y. Times during October, listing thousands of signers. The text insists that no single issue, including abortion, dominates our choices as Catholic voters, and states Catholic Social Teaching and Gospel-based positions on many issues, from social security and campaign finance reform to drug policy, arms control and military spending.
