Success of Crowley Legacy Campaign enriches CTA programs
Thanks to $554, 000 from 1,435 donors over three years, CTA has celebrated the completion of The Crowley Legacy Fund. True to its stated goals, the fund has financed dramatic developments in eight areas of CTA programming. Here are a few highlights:
1. Social justice agenda:
first printing of Focus on Sweatshops packet sold out in one year;
letter-writing campaigns for worker rights worldwide.2. Enhancing the CTA conference:
three national conferences in 2001, including first-ever on East and West Coast;
expanded local attendance, media coverage in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Chicago.3. Furthering CTA regional units:
ads for regional conferences in the National Catholic Reporter;
launched CTA-organizer, the email link for regional leaders.4. Outreach to young adults:
young adult membership up 108 percent, conference attendance up 169 percent;
four retreats for young adults, whole families.5. Outreach to racial and ethnic minorities:
consultations with both African American and Hispanic CTA members;
built Sankofa Moment into liturgy at three national conferences.6. Upgrade electronic equipment:
content of CTA website greatly expanded;
new computers for staff, faster internet access.7. International networking:
brought leaders from Asia, Latin America and Africa to national conferences;
sent staff, board liaisons to Asia and Latin America.8. Membership has grown from 18,000 to 25,000 in three years.
