Miss the boat? See them at CTA conference!

If you weren't among the 350 who squeezed onto the Pittsburgh riverboat ordination July 31, come to the CTA conference in Milwaukee Nov. 3-5. Six Roman Catholic Womenpriests and two womendeacons ordained this summer invite us to join them in a Eucharistic liturgy first thing Sunday morning, where we can, in their words, “discover the future alive in the present.” The priests are Eileen McCafferty DiFranco, Joan Clark Houk, Kathleen Strack Kunster, Bridget Mary Meehan, Regina Nicolosi, and Kathy Sullivan Vandenberg. The deacons are Juanita Cordero and Mary Ellen Robertson.

Based on those already pre-registered for conference by late August, staff projects that at least 650-700 attendees will choose to attend this liturgy, one of eight concurrent prayer sessions at 7:45 AM Sunday.

Also, one of the major speakers both Friday and Saturday is Dr. Patricia Fresen, one of the three Roman Catholic Womenbishops who together ordained the Pittsburgh candidates. After her five-city U.S. speaking tour this spring, Fresen was profiled in an essay, “The Lady Is a Bishop,” by theologian Marjorie Maguire in May-June ChurchWatch. A Dominican sister for 45 years and a theology professor in seminaries in Rome and her native South Africa, Fresen is now coordinator of the RC Womenpriests training program preparing scores of women internationally for ordination.
