The people of St. Augustine's Parish in New Orleans rallied and protested last March against Archbishop Alfred Hughes’ decision
to close their historic African American Church, oldest in North America. TV news cameras brought their active nonviolence to
public attention. Two weeks later the archbishop agreed to keep the parish open.
