CTA team grappling with institutional racism
Call to Action’s 28-member Anti-Racism Team met March 9-13 in suburban Detroit for intensive training in understanding institutional racism — the toxic combination of race prejudice and the power of systems to maintain white privilege. At its next five-day meeting in July, the team and its trainers from Crossroads Ministry will apply the analysis to the Call To Action organization itself, for CTA too is afflicted with institutional racism. Sharing the training sessions with CTA are nine newer members of Pax Christi USA's anti-racism effort, which began in 2000.
In one-on-one conversations with each other, team members share their own experiences and why they got involved in anti-racism.
